Red fescue is a grass with many advantages. It grows on almost any type of soil, it is extremely resistant to drought and frost. A decorative appearance, even and slow growth rate, good resistance to diseases are features that are appreciated in this type of utility plants. It turns green in early spring and maintains its attractive appearance throughout the season, until late autumn. It shows high resistance to trampling and climatic conditions. It is the basic ingredient found in lawn mixtures. It is used both by individual gardeners and on a large scale in urban green areas, e.g. for strengthening slopes. It is mostly sown on roadsides and intra-lane green belts. Due to the numerous advantages of the plant and its outstanding resistance, it is recommended for turfing difficult areas with poor soils, particularly those that lack potassium and which may be subject to erosion. It is a perennial, low growing grass with an intense dark green color. Red fescue is recommended for establishing lawns in areas with difficult habitat conditions and changing water conditions. It is a very popular pastures and meadow grass. Has marginal nutritional value, though.
