Switchgrass "Rotstrahlbusch" (Panicum virgatum) is an attractive variety that takes on an erect, compact habit. Its tufts may grow 100 – 130 cm tall during the flowering period. Narrow leaves turn yellow-orange in autumn and their tips become red. The loose, panicled inflorescences constitute another ornamental feature of this plant and appear end of July and at the beginning of August. Switchgrass "Rotstrahlbusch" perfectly fits into naturalistic and rock gardens, as well as on sunny borders. It will add lightness and in autumn plenty of colour to every garden arrangement.
