Tasselflower (Emilia coccinea) - vermillion flower heads of this beautiful and easy in cultivation annual flowering plant will look great in a larger grouping on a flower bed. Eye-catching flower heads filled with tiny, orange-red petals appear on straight erect stems in July. Loose, richly blooming tasselflower tufts with rosettes of large, green leaves grow up to 40 cm tall and retain their ornamental value all summer long until the first autumn frosts.

Seeds of this enchanting plant should be sown directly into the field in the second half of spring. The soil needs to be weeded and watered, sufficiently light and rich in humus at the same time (it could be enriched with compost). Undemanding, vigorous tasseflower will look great in company of other flowers with light habit, such as cosmoses, cornflowers, chrysanthemums and baby's breaths. It will also show its assests in combination with decorative grasses and large single species groupings.
