There is a reason why the Artist tulip (Tulipa viridiflora) has been named that way: this unique variety develops flowers that look like if they were painted by a famous painter. The Artist differs from the more popular, unicolour varieties as a representative of the late green-flowered tulip. It blooms in May, producing tall cup-shaped flowers with a pointed, decoratively twisted, orange-pink petals with a characteristic green stripe. The long blooming period, that lasts up to three weeks, of this variety that we offer in our garden store also belongs to its advantages.

The bulbs of the green-flowered tulips should be planted in autumn, as late as possible. Choose a bright, sunny or partially shady site with a moderately heavy, humus-rich and permeable soil. The slender, erect Artist tulip will look best in a dense, large grouping that counts at least 10 plants. It will form adorable border compositions with such late double tulips (e.g. Allegretto, Orange Favourite), parrot tulips (Exotic Parrot, Webers Parrot) and the lily shaped cultivars (Florosa).
