The 'Clusiana Lady Jane' tulip dazzles with a subtle elegance worth of a real lady. It bears single, yet impressive flowers. The broadly spreading petals form a star. They are lightweight and look even more frail due to their colouring. The narrow, slender, grey green leaves perfectly complement the tenderness of the blooms. The outer pink petals interlock with the inner white ones. The centre of the long, slender flower cup is creamy-white and has a yellow spot at the bottom. The brown anthers add the last touch to the flower. The 'Lady Jane' tulips do not require any special maintenance and reliably bloom every year. These charming, relatively low growing plants constitute an excellent garden decoration that is pretty undemanding when it comes to cultivation requirements.
The flowering tulips bring plenty of joy. A small tuft of the most popular bulb plants should not be missed from any garden. There is plenty of possibilities to expose and use their potential. You can plant it on single species flower beds, in mixed compositions with other bulb flowers or arrangements consisting of perennials and annuals. They look great on English-style flower beds that surround a lawn. The 'Clusiana Lady Jane' tulip perfectly fit onto edgings. We also recommend to choose the sturdy and reliable tulips to fill pots and planters on a balcony, terrace or patio. They can be introduced in a rock garden and as colourful accents around trees and bushes. You will also be able to prepare small, charming bouquets out of them.
When you decide to grow tulips, choose a sunny or only partially shady site. These plants will not be able to fully expose their beauty in the shade. The soil should be permeable, if it is not the case, apply the appropriate drainage layer. Before planting in autumn the soil should be cultivated, weeded and mixed with compost in order to provide plants with nutrients. The optimal soil reaction would be neutral or slightly acidic. Tulip growing sites should be sheltered from strong winds in order to protect plants from damage. Apart from the regular weeding we recommend to remove the wilted inflorescences. It will protect the bulbs from losing vital strength.
Plant the bulbs at the depth equalling their double height. Put the stem bud (the pointy tips) up. Cover the bulbs with soil. Press the soil in order to remove the hollow cavities. Water the bulbs once, exuberantly after the planting. Tulips are resistant to frost. We recommend to cover the bulbs with mulch or conifer twigs before the winter.
