"Blutampfer" wood dock (Rumex sanguineus) is an intriguing edible plant with additional ornamental value. This perennial develops compact tufts of spiky, elongated leaves that are green and adorned with red veins. It grows up to 50 cm tall and grows back rapidly after the harvest. This plant would look splendid both on vegetable and flower beds. Bloody dock or bloodwort, as this plant is also called, may also be grown in containers. Young leaves do not only look great, but are also a tasty addition to soups, salads and warm plates and can be prepared like spinach.

Seeds of the wood dock are sown directly to the field from March to April. This plant shows high resistance to frost and does not require covering during winter. Young leaves are harvested from May to September. Repeated harvest is possible as the leaves grow back. Wood dock would grow best on a sunny site. The soil it grows in should be moderately fertile, well-drained and constantly moist.

Each package contains 0.2 g of the "Blutampfer" wood dock seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
