The Alexander Fleming peony (Paeonia) is a long-lived and beautifully flowering garden perennial. Presented semi-shrub grows 70 to 100 centimetres in height. Erect stems that are richly covered with leaves sprout fragrant pink flowers at their tops. Main features of this variety include development of pistils and stamens into wide petals that densely fill the flower centres. Dentate ends of middle petals and their subtle, pearly shine add even more elegance to the plant. Combined, those qualities give Alexander Fleming peonies their unmatched decorativeness. Paeonia belongs to most universal garden species. It is suitable both for growing in a home garden and for cut flower. Sumptuous peony tufts look great in a variety of garden styles, especially the Oriental and English. Peonies look best in larger groups that form colourful patches on a lawn, or in a row that helps cover a fence or wall. This phenomenal plant flowers in June.
As long as you provide the plant with right growing conditions, peony would not pose any problems. The most stunning peonies grow at sunny, warm sites that are sheltered from the wind. A thoroughly, deeply cultivated, moderately moist, and humous soil serves best the development of rhizomes. Due to the multitude of huge flowers, Alexander Fleming peony shoots may require supports. Staking helps the plant maintain a decorative shape and protects it against breaking off the shoots, which can be caused, for example, by heavy rain. Peony is a frost-resistant plant that tolerates Central European winter well. Still, we recommend to cover the site for winter in its first season.
We hereby offer one seedling of the Alexander Fleming peony. Basic plant information and growing tips can be found on the label.
