The Alligator Alley hosta is a wonderful variety that produces large, wrinkled leaves. Lighter colour of the blade is nicely accentuated by the bluish edging. A rosette of those cordate leaves grows up to 55 centimetres tall. Thin leafless stalks that support bell-shaped, light lavender blue flowers appear over the lush foliage in summer. A host, plant with ornamental form, leaves, and flowers, provides great material for natural plantings. It perfectly fits into parks and wood-like gardens. Plantain lily, as hosta is also called, allow you to structure your garden store-like and compose arrangements that would accentuate features of flowering plants. The Alligator Alley hosta looks great on borders and in rock gardens too. You can successfully grow those lush tufts in planters, large pots, and broad bowls. Colourful leaf rosettes form indispensable edgings of ponds and water reservoirs.

Presented variety likes partially shady situations and shade. It thrives under tree corollas, at spots unreachable for sun rays. A mixture of sunlight and shade proves to be the optimal growing environment for this species. Hosta likes fertile, humous, continually moist soil that is permeable and has a slightly acidic reaction.

You can plant hosta rhizomes almost all season long. Spring and summer, from April to August, is the best time for this activity. Place seedlings ten to twelve centimetres deep in the soil. These plants spread relatively quickly and form rich, ornamental tufts.
