The 'Bartek' is an early broad bean variety. The branching plants produce 8 to 10 pods on one stem. Each pod contains 4 to 5 large, light green seeds that constitute the edible part of the plant. The plants of the presented variety usually grow about 70 cm tall. Seeds of the 'Bartek' broad bean can be eaten fresh after the harvest or dried and stored. The pods are collected gradually as the need arises. The unripe seeds taste best. Use them in steamed dishes, salads or as a standalone snack. Large seeds of this broad bean variety are tender, delicious and do not tend to overcook. Remove the skins before eating. Broad bean contains a variety of nutrients and is therefore valued by dietary experts. It contains B vitamins, phosphorus, iron, folic acid and plenty of fibre. It is recommended for vegetarians and all those who intend to deacidify their bodies, as this vegetable has the necessary properties.
Sow broad bean seeds from March to April. You may also grow the seedlings earlier. The harvest takes place circa 80 days after the sow, from June to August. This plant prefers sunny sites and heavier soils with high water capacity. We recommend to grow broad bean plants 40-60 × 10-20 cm apart.
One package contains 500 grams of the 'Bartek' broad bean seeds. The basic growing instructions and the sow-by date were included in the product information.
