"Blushing Lady" tulip surprises with its explosion of pastel colours. As the name suggests, these tulips proudly present their blush. "Blushing Lady" tulips are the personification of a spring mood. A mixed bed with daffodils, hyacinths, and grape hyacinths will make the wait for truly warm summer days even more pleasant.

Scientific name: Tulipa

Vegetation form: bulbous perennial

Growth form: all tulips, irrespective of their height and variety, maintain an erect habit. Stiff stems of this variety carry one flower.

Height: The "Blushing Lady" cultivar grows 50 to 60 centimetres tall.

Foliage: tulip leaves are not really ornamental, yet provide a wonderful background for the flowers. They are long, rather broad, sharp-tipped, and thick, almost fleshy. They surround the stem. The leaves get smaller in the upper part of the stem.

Flowering period: tulips look best in April and May.

Flower type and colour: elongated, slender flowers of the "Blushing Lady" tulip sport a harmonious composition of a central pink stripe surrounded by blurred yellow on each petal. It looks fresh and cheerful.

Site: Tulips should grow on sunny sites where they thrive. They like light, permeable, moderately moist, fertile soils.

Planting: bulbs should be planted at a depth that equals twice or thrice their height. Make sure to plant them apart so they can freely develop without competing with each other. A distance of 12 to 15 centimetres will be suit them fine.

Planting period: The period from mid-September to the end of October is optimal for planting tulips.

Wintering: You do not have to dig out tulip bulbs before the winter, as they are hardy. You can cover them with dry mulch. We recommend to excavate them every two to three years to support blooming.

Use: "Blushing Lady" tulip is exceptionally ornamental we recommend to expose it in groups of a dozen or several dozen plants. You can grow it on a border or flower bed. Do not hesitate to give it some place on the lawn. This tulip looks great in bouquets and other flower arrangements too. Freshly cut tulips retain their ornamental value in interiors for a long time.
