Butterhead lettuce "Zina" (Lactuca sativa) is the one-and-only head variety that winters without covers. This extremely durable plant forms regularly shaped, rather large, compact heads consisting of densely packed soft, wrinkled leaves. They take on appetizing, pale green colour and show exceptional taste - tender and juicy. Additionally, they are easily digestible and rich in priceless vitamins (provitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C) and magnesium, calcium, kalium and iron.
Seeds of the "Zina" lettuce are sown directly to the soil in late summer, at the end of summer / beginning of autumn the latest. Harvest of the nicely closed, healthy heads takes place in the second half of spring. One of the biggest advantages of this butterhead lettuce variety lays in late producing of the flowering stalks, what significantly extends harvesting period. Its tender leaves taste great in spring salads, as addition to meat and in sandwiches.
