Dahlia "Dutch Explosion" (Dahlia) belongs to the extremely ornamental cactus varieties. It develops spherical inflorescences packed with long, whorled ray flowers that look like cactus thorns. They also delight with the intensity of the colours – snow white petals take on a deep, pink colour at the ends. Plants of this dahlia variety may grow even 110 cm tall. They bloom exuberantly from July until first frosts. This variety is intended for elevated borders and cut flowers and looks particularly amazing when planted in smaller groups.

Dahlias are sensitive to frosts and therefore should only be planted in May. These grown on sunny sites would produce the most beautiful blooms, but you need to water and fertilize them regularly. These plants prefer constantly, moderately moist soil rich in humus and nutrients. Dahlia rhizomes should be excavated in autumn, because they would not survive the winter in the ground. Store them in an airy place, where the temperature does not drop below 0°C.
