The "Eastern Moon" tree lily is a variety that develops light, pastel coloured flowers. This tall hybrid was bred of the Asiatic and trumpet lily. Huge flowers of these magnificent plants decorate gardens and allotments. Their cup-shaped flowers take on a pink-yellow colour with a hint of celadon green. They look splendid on the 120 to 150 centimetres tall stalks. Tree lilies are perfectly suited for border and flower bed backgrounds. They look great planted alongside walls, fences, and under terraces. The "Eastern Moon Variety" can be combined with plants that will shelter lower parts of the stems and then fill empty spots left by the wilting flowers. Day-lily, phlox, ornamental grasses, annual cosmoses, dahlias, heliotropes, and woodland sage are perfect for that purpose.

Tree lilies that are also called orienpet lilies grow fast. Since they develop intensively, the require a site that is rich in nutrients. They prefer fertile, sandy-clay, moderately moist soils. They handle sunny and partially shady sites well. We recommend to plant them on sites that are sheltered from the wind due to their substantial height. The stems that carry heavy flowers often require staking. In general, tree lilies will grow on lesser soils too, but you should take into account that they will grow less abundant.

Tree lilies are winter hard and can grow on the same site for several years. You can plant their bulbs both in spring and autumn. Plants of this species should grow 50 to 70 centimetres apart due to their large size. Plant their large bulbs at the depth equal thrice their size. The flowering that takes place in July and August usually starts in the second year of cultivation. Lilies gain their full ornamental potential after two to three years, after their bulbs have grown accustomed to the new site.
