The "Tetra Blue Mink" (Ageratum houstonianum) belongs to the most popular balcony and terrace ornamental plants. It develops compact, round tufts that grow 15 - 20 cm tall. Tiny and tender blooms are gathered in large panicles. Large numbers of them form, adorning the plants for a long time. Flossflowers bloom from early summer until the first frosts, and are therefore recommended for flowery arrangements. They look great on lower borders, flowery carpets and as colourful edgings. Thanks to the small size and dense habit they are perfect for container cultivation.

This species should be grown from seedlings that you may prepare early in spring under covers. Flossflower seeds should be sown to pots and boxes placed in a warm and well-lit spot. The emergence occurs after 8 - 10 days. In order for the plants to grow taller, thin the seedlings to larger pots. Transplant the seedlings ouside mid-may, when the risk of the spring frosts has passed. "Tetra Blue Mink" flossflower will grow best and bloom most abundantly on sunny sites, especially, if you provide it with fertile and moderately moist soil.
