Gladiolus "Plum Tart" (Gladiolus) stands out with large, crimson-red inflorescences. Flowers are arranged in one-sided ears that decorate the garden from July until the first days of September. These plants take on an erect, slender habit and may grow up to 110 cm tall. Tall gladiolus stems covered abundantly with blooms will attract attention in every arrangement. They look great planted in small groups on borders or lawns, but you may also plant them in larger containers.

Gladioli bulbs should be planted in April and May. Choose a sunny and wind-sheltered site where the plants can long and abundantly grow. This species is rather undemanding in regard to the soil type. These gladioli, however, prefer soils that are rich in nutrients and humus. A border or flower bed with regulated water conditions would suit them best. Gladioli are not frost-resistant. Dig out the bulbs in autumn and store until spring in a ventilated and cool room.
