Iceberg Lettuce 'Traper' is a reliable, crisp variety that delights with its light green colour and compact heads. Its moderately early growth makes it ideal for direct sowing outdoors from spring to autumn. Thanks to its exceptional resistance to bolting, 'Traper' provides tasty, crunchy leaves throughout the season. The large, tightly wrapped heads are not only a source of vitamins but also an excellent addition to a variety of dishes. Opting for this variety allows you to enjoy fresh vegetables from your own garden.

Sowing

'Traper' lettuce thrives best when directly sown into the ground. It is recommended to prepare well-tended soil to provide the seeds with optimal conditions for germination. Regular watering is also important, especially during the early stages of growth.

Sowing Depth

The optimal sowing depth for 'Traper' lettuce seeds is 0.5-1 cm. This ensures quick germination and provides young plants with adequate access to light and nutrients. Ensuring the correct depth guarantees a healthy start to growth.

Direct Sowing Period

When should you sow 'Traper' lettuce seeds directly into the ground? The best period is from April to June. It is advisable to adjust the sowing time to weather conditions to ensure the seeds have the right temperature and moisture. Regular watering and protection from frost promote their proper development.

Plant Spacing

When cultivating 'Traper' lettuce, the recommended spacing is 30x30 cm. This distance between plants allows for free growth and development of compact heads, as well as facilitating care and harvest. Maintaining appropriate spacing also promotes better air circulation, which minimizes the risk of diseases.

Site Conditions

'Traper' lettuce prefers sunny or semi-shaded positions with well-drained and fertile soil. Regular fertilisation with compost or natural fertilisers enriches the soil with essential nutrients. It is also important to avoid overwatering, which could lead to root rot.

Growing Tips

Growing 'Traper' lettuce requires regular watering, especially during dry periods. It is also advisable to systematically remove weeds that may compete with the plants for water and nutrients. With proper care, 'Traper' lettuce will produce abundant yields for many months.

Harvest Period

The harvest period for 'Traper' lettuce is from June to October. During this time, the heads are fully mature, and the leaves retain their crunchiness and freshness. Regular harvesting encourages the growth of new leaves, allowing you to enjoy the flavour of this exceptional variety for longer.

The quality control process

All our seeds must pass a four-stage quality control process.

Stage one begins with a careful selection of the suppliers. Than we proceed with controlling their crops, foreign producers are not excluded from the quality control process. Plants are checked at every stage of their development: when they start to grow, during blooming and when they start bearing fruit (seeds). At this stage the most important thing is to ensure proper spacing of the plants. Thanks to that obtaining the desired morphological characteristics of each particular species or variety, such as colour, height and shape, can be ensured.

Stage two consists of a detailed verification tests in laboratory conditions. With the use of the highest quality equipment by the highly qualified staff, our suppliers perform more than 30 000 quality checks annually. The seeds that do not meet our requirements are subject to technological refining processes, including drying, cleaning, upgrading and testing again.

Stage three starts with sowing seeds in selected control plots. That way we obtain valuable, exact information concerning their germination that must be maintained at an appropriate level. Simultaneously, the varietal identity of each species is checked at this stage.

Stage four takes place in our warehouses and consists of eliminating seeds that have been stored for too long on our shelves and replacing them with new batches. Each package is stamped with a unique batch number and also with the sow-by-date.

All four stages combined allow us to state with confidence that the seeds we deliver comply with the highest standards and have completed all required control stages with flying colours.
