Iceberg lettuce "Vanguard 75" (Lactuca sativa) is a crunchy, head, olive green, late variety intended for field cultivation. One of its main features is that it does not produce flowering stalks. "Vanguard 75" lettuce produces regularly shaped, round heads that dazzle with its large size. They consist of tightly packed dark olive-green leaves. The leaf blades are round and resemble oysters in shape. They are slightly wrinkled and have corrugated edges, what only adds to the visual charm of this variety. Their consumptional value is exceptional, they are juicy and firm and taste equally great. Iceberg lettuce contains large amounts of provitamin A, vitamin C, B vitamins and minerals.

Iceberg lettuce may be grown both from direct sow to the ground and from seedlings. Lettuce seeds are sown from mid-February to mid-April in a heated room, or from mid-May to mid-June directly to the ground. Seedlings are transplanted to the permanent site, depending on the cultivation method, from March until July in 45 - 50 x 30 cm spacings. Lettuce yields richest harvest grown on a sunny site. It prefers light, sufficiently moist soils that are rich in humus and nutrients.
