The Louis van Houtte peony can confidently enter a garden queen pageant. Its dome-shaped, dense tufts reach about 80 centimetres in height. Palmate, ornamental, dark green leaves give the peony an elegant appearance all season long. Still, it is the flowers that unfold in June, sometimes end of May already, that constitute the main attraction of the plant. Large, semi-double, raspberry-pink peony heads delight with their richness. Paeonia is a species with great potential for use. It looks beautiful at the back of a flowerbed or planted single at a showcase part of your property. Planted in a larger group, it will give you cut flowers of excellent durability. A wonderful, abundant peony bouquet is perfect for a birthday. You can also decorate a table for a family gathering with it.

Paeonia needs a fertile, slightly moist, loosened soil to grow healthy and lush. It does not tolerate drying or waterlogging ground. It prefers sunny, warm and sheltered places. Mulching the ground over them with conifers, especially in the first years of cultivation, suits the plant. In general, taking care of peonies consists of, preferably organic, fertilizing, removing faded flowers, and watering when the need arises.

We hereby offer one seedling of the Louis van Houtte peony. Basic plant information and growing tips can be found on the label.
