Lucile's glory-of-the-snow (Chionodoxa luciliae) offered here in a charming colour mix adorns the garden at the beginning of the season. This wonderful, low growing plant produces seductive flowers with a white eye when snow rests sill occupy lawns and fields. Two long, narrow leaves usually grow from each bulb. They are subtly pubescent, paler at the undersides, often have crimson edges, and form loose tufts. Light green or purplish stems carry clusters of flowers, each consisting of two to three blooms. The flowers that sit on thin petioles are quite large - up to 3.5 centimetres in diameter - and star-shaped. The distinctly paler smudge that runs through the middle of the petals softens the shades of blue, lavender-purple, or pale pink. Patches of flowering Lucile's glory-of-the-snow appear in March and April.

The offered colour selection of Lucile's glory-of-the-snow varieties is perfect for path edges, rock gardens, and naturalizing lawns. It can also be used in planters to complement early spring arrangements on a balcony or terrace. You can also cut the small 15 centimetres tall stalks and use them in small, charming bouquets.

Their bulbs, covered with dark brown scales, should be planted on sunny and partially shady spots. They prefer sandy or clay, permeable, not waterlogging soil. Plant them in autumn, preferably at the end of September/ beginning of October. Plant glory-of-the-snow bulbs five to eight centimetres deep and five to ten centimetres apart.

Presented plant is rather undemanding, resistant to drought, and spread broadly. You will achieve the most beautiful effects by planting a larger, compact group and let it grow wild. It will spread like a flowering carpet over various spots in your garden.

One package contains 10 bulbs of Lucile's glory-of-the-snow colour variety selection. Key plant facts and growing instructions were printed on the package label.
