Marigold ‘Orange Gem’ is an annual plant that grows 25 to 35 centimetres in height and flowers over a long span of time. This lovely decorative variety produces rather little flowers in a gorgeous orange shade, hence the name. Marigold ‘Orange Gem’ is most suitable for flower beds, planters and borders. Similarly to the other marigolds of Tagetes tenuifolia family, it tolerates many types of soil and can endure periods when the soil lacks water.
Growing: sow the seeds under cover from March to April or directly into the soil from late April to early May. The seeds germinate in 7 to 14 days at 18oC. Plant out into a permanent position in 30x30cm spacings by the end of May. The plants are soil tolerant and resistant to water scarcity.
