Michaelmas Daisy, also known as New England Aster, is a perennial variety that grows 120 to 140 centimetres in height. This plant produces rigid shoots which are heavily branched in the upper section and produce gorgeous little inflorescences that come in multiplicity of colours. Flowering from September to late November, Michaelmas Daisy, is a fine decoration for autumn gardens. It is often used and highly appreciated as a cut flower.
Growing: sow the seeds in covered pallet planters or planter boxes in April. The seeds germinate in 10 to 14 days at 16-20oC. Plant out into a permanent position in 40-50cm spacings in May. The seeds sown in early April produce plants that flower in the first year of cultivation. This variety requires rich soils and sunny of semi-shaded positions.
