They contain more essential oils and have a sharper taste than other basil varieties. Microgreens are becoming more and more popular in the daily diet. You may grow them on your own and they will enhance the taste and appearance of your dishes, as well as provide you with large amounts of necessary compounds. Microgreens are, like sprouts, a concentrated source of nutrients. In contrary to sprouts, they are grown in soil and only the stalks and first true leaves are used. They contain much more valuable nutrients than sprouts and mature plants. Young red basil leaves will add flavour to every dish.

Microgreens grow rapidly and their cultivation is easy and does not require much work. You may easily grow young leaves on a windowsill or a balcony. Sow Microgreens seeds densely in shallow containers or boxes filled with standard soil. Provide them with light and sprinkle regularly with water, preferably at least two times daily. After 2 - 3 weeks, when the first true leaves have developed, red sweet basil will be ready for harvest.
