The Nablus gladiolus is a variety that bears large, rich, waved, purple flowers with a light perianth. It is highly valued for its elegance and looks. You can plant it in a garden, at the front or edge of a border. A straight, sturdy stem that reaches heights between 80 to 110 centimetres, is in the upper half covered with flowers that can be admired for about three weeks. Nablus ranks high among cut flowers. It owes that standing to the attractive, huge, frizzled flowers and excellent durability. Those heavy, waved flowers might require staking, still, this variety is way more resistance to rain and wind than the standard varieties.

Gladioli should be planted end of April, beginning of May into a well-cultivated soil, 10 to 12 centimetres deep. The soil where you intend to grow gladioli should be slightly acidic, fertile, and enriched with a dab of compost. Gladioli prefer bright sites that are not exposed to drafts. After the flowering has ended, you should cut off the stems, leaving only four leaves that would supply corms with nutrients for the next season. The excavation of gladioli bulbs should take place 35 to 40 days after the flowering period. Prepare them for wintering by drying them, cleaning, and placing in baskets. The temperature at which you store bulbs should be above the freezing point.
