Medium late, extremely productive onion 'Sumatra' belongs to the most valuable onion cultivars grown in Europe. It develops large (100 - 120 g), round bulbs consisting of yellow-brown, adhering dry scale and creamy-white flesh. The inner scales of the variety offered here in our store are fleshy, juicy, crunchy and rich in sugars, vitamins, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and phytoncides - volatile organic compounds that are sometimes called natural antibiotics. 'Sumatra' onion flesh contains 12-13% of dry weight. This variety is usually grown for preserves and long-term storage.

White onion (Allium cepa) constitute 10% of all vegetables eaten in Poland. Its characteristic, slightly savoury taste goes well with meat and cheese, accentuates taste of sauces and gives a distinct taste to salads. If you consider growing onion on your own, 'Sumatra' would provide you with regularly sized, rich crops that is perfect for raw consumption and storing. Sow its seeds onto a high quality, permeable, non-acidic, water-retaining soil that is rich in humus.
