The 'Peter Brand' peony (Paeonia lactiflora), whose root sets are available here, is magnificent variety that develops double crimson-red flowers. The dark saturated colouring of its satin petals takes on a warmer red tone in the sun and becomes cool purple in the shade. This extraordinary perennial forms numerous large spherical inflorescences in May and June. They are densely packed with shiny, soft, oval petals. The opened flower discloses a whorl of golden decorative anthers. The whole plant reaches from 60 to 90 cm in height, depending on the growing conditions and the soil type. Peonies take on a nice compact tuft habit and their bright green, compound leaves densely cover the stems leaving no empty spots. Thanks to these features the species offered in our store looks great both planted singly and as a border for lower growing plants on a flower bed. The 'Peter Brand' peony is an excellent variety for growing on empty spots at the relaxation spots, alongside fences and paths. It can also be used to form beautiful rows at the garden entrances with other peony cultivars, e.g. those with lighter coloured flowers, such as 'Amabilis', 'Coral Sunset', 'Sarah Bernhardt', 'Shirley Temple'.

Plant peony root sets in spring into permeable and moist soil in spring. This vigorous plant requires humous soil and reacts well to organic fertilizers. Exuberant peony tufts will bloom reliably both in the sun and partial shade. Since the flowers of the 'Peter Brand' variety are exceptionally large the plants grown on open and windy sites might require staking.
