The Marguerite Peruvian lily is a bulbous perennial with stunningly beautiful flowers. These fabulously coloured, open flowers are gathered in irregular apical clusters. Each of the funnel-shaped flowers has six petals, half of which are marked by darker, contrasting spots and streaks. Vividly green, lanceolate, subtly twisted leaves cover Peruvian lily's long stems. The species produces large cylindrical roots underground which over time form extensive colonies. The Marguerite Peruvian lily grows between 55 and 65 centimetres tall. It blooms from June to the end of the vegetation season. Most flowers appear in July. The variety presents golden-yellow flowers with wine-red streaks, complemented with darker lines. The Inca lily, as this plant is also called, is a marvellous plant both for the garden and for a vase. These phenomenal flowers attract many bees and butterflies.

The exotic Peruvian lily thrives in gentle sun or partial shade and requires medium, but constantly moist, well-drained, humous, and slightly acidic soil. Plant rhizomes in containers in March and April. Outside, you can only plant this species after the last frosts in May. Native to South America, Peruvian lily is sensitive to cold. It can survive the winter in the ground, under a thick covering, yet we definitely recommend moving it to a bright, cool room. The optimum storage temperature is around 10⁰C.
