"Sonja" sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a very attractive variety, whose orange blooms will definitely adorn each space. Plants of this variety grow circa 125 cm tall. They develop a strong, straight main stem that is surrounded by numerous side stems. Flowers develop atop ot the stems to decorate your garden during summer months. Medium-large blooms consist of orange petals that surround dark centre. Due to its relatively small size "Sonja" sunflower is suited for cultivation in containers on a balcony or terrace. It may, though, be also grown in gardens or for cut flowers. Its blooms would adorn the borders as well as stay fresh in vases for a long time.
Sunflower seeds are sown directly to the field mid-April or in May. If you wish for the plants to bloom earlier, prepare seedlings indoors at the beginning of spring. Sunflowers do not stand transplantation well, hence need to be transferred with the complete root system in a lump of soil. You may extend the blooming period by sowing seeds in batches every two weeks. Sunny spots in the garden would be perfect for sunflower cultures. They should be planted in light, moderately fertile and not too moist soil.
Each package contains 0.5 g of the "Sonja" sunflower seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
