Sweet Violet, commonly known as English Violet, is a rampant perennial plant that grows 10 to 15 centimetres in height; it features lovely little purple or white flowers which are very aromatic. With a flowering period from March to May and in the autumn, Sweet Violet is ideal for flower beds, borders and rockeries. Proving its versatility, the plant is also used as a cut flower in diminutive bouquets.
Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes or in a seedbed from October to November. To start germination, the seeds require to be placed in a position kept at a temperature range of 0-5° for a period of four weeks. The seedlings appear from March to April. Plant them out into a permanent position in 30x30cm spacings in April. Grow the plant in fertile humus soils in shade.
