The award winning, undeniably charming Ballade tulip is worth inviting into your garden, public green spaces or a summer cottage. It produces the beautiful lily-shaped flowers late in spring. The petals of this variety look as if they were painted with watercolours. The snow-white edge turns into a deep fuchsia pink only to spread into a yellow-white eye in the bottom of the flower. The lemon-yellow pistil and 6 anthers provide a grand finale to the show performed by this flower. The 50-cm tall variety offered here harmonizes with other flowering plants that bloom during about the same time.

This undoubtedly elegant tulip looks spectacular when planted in larger groupings. An idyllic field of these erect flowers offers unforgettable visual experience combined with a darker background or the contrasting forget-me-nots. The stiff and strong stalks of this tulip category are one of the reasons why it should be planted alongside the pavements and paths. The Ballade is also a great cut flower. The elegant bouquets retain their ornamental value for quite a long time.

Tulip bulbs planted in autumn will grow well in almost every type of garden soil, provided it is permeable and not too compact. They require a site with at least 5-6 hours of sunlight exposure in order to develop properly. You may plant them in company of trees and shrubs that do not fully develop foliage during their blooming periods. Planting depth should be at least 10-15 cm. Water the bulbs after planting in order to allow them to take root before the winter. If you did not apply compost before planting, you may feed tulips with multi-compound fertilizers until the blooming period. Water your tulips regularly until the leaves begin to yellow naturally. Yearly excavation of bulbs is not necessary, yet recommended. Dry and clean the excavated bulbs end of June / beginning of July and store in an airy, dark place until planting time.
