The Bull's Eye tulip is a magnificent variety that develops double, peony-shaped flowers with a surprise effect. Just like the unique Pop Up tulips, this garden rarity changes colours with time. The round, green buds at the beginning disclose a red "eye". The flower opens up more and more with every day and the green sepals give way to the fiery red petals. The fully unfolded tulip looks like a scarlet peony. Despite the size of the flowers, the whole plant takes on a compact habit. The Bull's Eye tulip grows 30 to 40 cm tall and is therefore perfectly suited for flower bed foreground and edgings of tall perennial groupings.
You can plant tulip bulbs all autumn long. Choose a site that is sunny or in partial shade during a part of the day, e.g. in vicinity of tall deciduous trees. The soil should be permeable and rich in humus. Tulips are rather undemanding in regard to the growing conditions and therefore will thrive in every well prepared, cultivated and fertilized soil. The lower growing varieties, such as this Bull's Eye, look best in compact groupings of 5 to 7 plants. The variety offered here in our store will harmonize with the narcissi, hyacinths, grape hyacinths, the low growing Greigii and Kaufmanniana tulips and the tall Darwin hybrids.
Each package contains 50 pieces Bull's Eye tulip bulbs sized 11 to 12 cm. The most important plant growing tips were included in the package information.
