A gladiolus of the presented large-flowered variety reaches impressive size of over one metre. Characteristically coloured flowers that hang on a long and slender stem allow to use the plant in the central part of a planting. The Velvet Eyes gladiolus flowers in summer, filling lawns, pots, and vases with its colour. This magnificent plant is valued for its durability as cut flower too. A phenomenal bicolour bouquet of that gladiolus can adorn a room for up to 14 days!
Plant gladioli in spring, end of April/beginning of May. Put bulbs into warmed and dried soil to guarantee them a head start. Choose sunny, sheltered sites that protect tall plants from breaking. Tall and rich plants need a fertile soil that has been enriched with compost in autumn. It should also be well cultivated and permeable. Plant gladioli bulbs about 10 centimetres deep, a bit deeper in sandy soil. We recommend planting the larger gladioli varieties 10 to 20 centimetres apart. Excavate corms in autumn, clean them, and store in a dry room at a low temperature over the freezing point.
One package contains 5 gladioli bulbs of the presented variety. These bulbs are sized 12/14 centimetres in circumference. The basic plant information and growing instructions can be found on the package label.
