White blue flossflower (Ageratum houstonianum) is an abundantly blooming annual flower that is commonly planted in balcony boxes and on borders. It grows only 20 cm tall, but spreads broadly, forming low tufts with a slightly flattened habit. Its stems end with umbel inflorescences. White-blue flowers develop from July until the first frosts in autumn. Richly flowering flossflowers look great on lower borders, can be used for edgings, and harmonise well with other popular balcony flowers when planted in boxes.

Flossflower seeds are sown at the beginning of spring to boxes or seeding trays placed in a warm interior. We recommend to use peat mixed with sand or special seeding soil for that purpose. Such soil is light and retains humidity what supports proper germination. When plants grow 1 cm tall it is recommended to prick them out in tufts of a few plants in each. That way we will receive denser seedlings. These are transplanted outside in the second half of May when the risk of spring frosts has passed. Flossflowers planted on sunny sites will bloom long and abundantly.
