The "Romena" white clover (Trifolium repens) offered here belongs to the most valuable forage plants. This perennial species develops long, creeping shoots that tend to develop numerous adventitious roots and therefore spread broadly. This feature makes white clover exceptionally resistant to grazing and treading. It constitutes a valuable fodder component, as it contains large amounts of proteins and the tender, juicy and delicious green parts of the white clover are eagerly eaten by animals. "Romena" variety presented here belongs to large-leaved varieties that are ideally suited for pastures and use as fodder material - it offers highly valued, balanced silage or hay, particularly when mixed with grasses. White clover is also considered a valuable melliferous plant.
The clover variety that we offer here in our garden store perfectly adapts to different weather and soil conditions. You may grow it in almost every kind of mineral soil, provided it is fertile, calciferous and sufficiently moist. These plants do not tolerate excessive shade and are not able to withstand long lasting droughts due to their shallow root system. We recommend to sow 8 - 10 kg per hectare in case of pure sowing. In case of meadow and forage mixtures, we advise to combine it with grasses with different maturing periods, such as meadow fescue, perennial ryegrass, Contents of the, cock's foot or red fescue.
One package contains 1 kg of "Romena" white clover seeds. The sow-by date has been printed on the package.
