The white flowered trailing lobelia belongs to the most ornamental flowering plants. It delights with its fluffy pillow-like appearance and the abundant blooming. Due to its slender, bending and trailing shoots it is grown in hanging containers and tall planters and pots. A balcony or terrace adorned with this plant will immediately attract attention and become the object of desire.
The trailing lobelia descends from the edging lobelia. The two-lipped small flowers appear on the plant already mid-June. The 50 to 60 cm long slender shoots harmonize well with the white colouring of the blooms. The flowering period is long and abundant, as it ends only in October. This lobelia spreads broadly and forms a compact, almost spherical appearance. It grows best on a bright, sunny site, although it tolerates partial shade. Due to the growth form of the plant it is grown only in boxes and pots.
Lobelia seeds should be sown in heated greenhouses, into containers in February and March. We recommend to mix the tiny seeds with sand in order to facilitate sowing. Pressing the seeds into the soil with a wooden plank should replace covering the site with soil. Keeping the soil moist is of utmost importance - use a sprinkler in order not to wash away the seeds. Prick out the young plants after they develop two pairs of true leaves. Plant the seedlings in small groups due to their small size. That way you will be able to grow compact, dense tufts that are covered with flowers. Transfer the seedlings to the target site in the second half of May.
One package contains 0,1 g of the white-flowered trailing lobelia seeds. The basic plant facts and growing tips were printed on the back of the package.
