Yucca filamentosa is a distinctive perennial with stiff, sword-like leaves gathered in a dense rosette. During the flowering period, a tall stem rises from the clump of leaves, topped with a panicle of creamy-white, bell-shaped flowers. The flowers hang lightly on short stalks, creating a striking vertical accent in the garden. The plant copes well with full sun and occasional dry spells, which is why it is often planted in dry, sunny positions. In flower, it reaches up to around 150 cm in height, while the leaf rosette itself remains much lower.
Yucca filamentosa is best planted from April to May.
The recommended planting depth for the bare root is 15 cm.
Plant 80-100 cm apart.
Yucca filamentosa reaches around 50 cm in height (leaves) and up to 150 cm during flowering.
