"Menta" Alsike clover (Trifolium hybridum) is a perennial species that had been once considered a hybrid between red and white clover. It is grown as a pasture plant due to its quick growth in spring and immediate regrowth after mowing. It is perfectly suited for perennial meadows and pastures alike, because of its resistance to treading and grazing. The variety presented here is recommended for growing on constantly humid grounds and wetlands with high level of groundwater. Alsike clover is also ideal for direct feeding, as the green forage it provides does not cause flatulence in farm animals. It is also considered a valuable fodder component, as it supplies high amounts of protein and minerals. It blooms rather early and remains in flower until September. This feature allows to treat it as a productive melliferous plant.

This species is recommended for cultivation on heavy, moist soils, even though it prefers fertile, medium compact soils with regulated air-water conditions and close-to-neutral reaction. Seeds of the "Menta" Alsike clover may be sown in March in various grass mixtures, while the pure sow usually takes place in the second half of August, since this plant winters well. The seeding rate amounts to 8-10 kg/ha. We recommend to combine this clover with grasses, such as the Contents of the, meadow fescue and Italian rye-grass. "Menta" Alsike clover may be mown three times during a season, with the first cutting being the most abundant one.
