Bear's breeches, also known as sea dock, sea holly, gator, or oyster plant (Acanthus mollis) is a perennial whose stems grow up to two metres tall in the wild. In Central European climate, it usually reaches half that height. Large, dense leaf rosettes beautifully decorate the garden even before the flowering period. Dark green, dentate, almost matte leaves are arranged in broad verticils. Flowers appear above them in summer, in July and August. Erect stems are then covered with lush purple-and-white bilabial flowers. Bear's foot plant, as it is also called, attracts swarms of butterflies and bees. It is a melliferous plant. This plant can be grown as an unusual decoration of a flower bed, rock garden, natural plantings, as well as large pots and planters. It looks great in larger groups and as a single entertainer. Bear's breeches is a majestic perennial that will attract attention at every garden spot you decide to grow it.

It is easy to grow, a fact that all gardeners should like, taking into account the appearance of the plant. Bear's breeches thrives in the sun and in partial shade. These plants tolerate various types of soil. They prefer permeable, humous, loose, moderately moist earth. The site should be equipped with a drainage layer. Bear's breeches does not tolerate waterlogging soil that proves to be extremely harmful to it. Because of its Mediterranean origin, this plant requires good covering before the winter, particularly in the first years of growing.

One package contains 10 bear's breeches (Acanthus mollis) seedlings. Growing instructions can be found in the product information on the label.
