‘Cambridge Blue’ Gentian Sage is grown as an annual plant in temperate climate conditions. This bulbous plant features raised and branched shoots that grow 45 to 60 centimetres long. In the period between August and late October, the shoots produce beautiful large blue flowers that collectively form loose spikes. The ‘Cambridge Blue’ Gentian Sage variety is an excellent plant for flower beds, flower containers and balcony planters.
Growing: sow the seeds in pallet planters or in pots from April to May. The seeds germinate in around 2 weeks at 14-16oC. When the young plants have developed several leaves and there is no risk of frost, plant them out to a permanent position. For wintering, secure the plants from frost by placing them in a position where the temperature is at least 5oC. It grows best in light and medium fertile soil in a sunny position.
