The common hyacinths constitute a unique group of bulbous plants. They owe their popularity to the abundance of flowers, their magnificent colours and a captivating aroma. The Blue Delft variety checks all the boxes. The spectacular blue flowers that take on a deep, saturated shade, should bring to mind the famous ceramic ware from the Dutch town of Delft. The white-blue fine pottery is know all around the world. The Delft Blue common hyacinth can easily compete with it. Its noblesse and richness perfectly match the sophisticated style of the mentioned ceramic ware. The exceptionally aromatic hyacinth that blooms in early spring has been awarded many prizes. Despite its elegance it is not difficult in cultivation. This charming bulbous flowering plant is a perfect choice for borders, edgings, rock gardens and containers. It brings the best visual results when planted in a larger grouping. A patch in a deep blue colour attracts attention and increases the ornamental value of a garden in spring. This plant is also recommended for mixed plantings, as it harmonizes well with lower shrubs and perennials. The plants of the presented variety grow 20 to 25 cm tall and bloom in April and May. Their flowers last for about two weeks.

Hyacinth bulbs should be planted in autumn, preferably mid September. Choose a sunny site for them, even though they would be able to fully expose their beauty in partial shade too. We recommend to feed the soil with a dab of compost or other organic fertilizer before planting the spherical bulbs that are covered with shiny skin. The soil needs to be light, permeable, without stagnant water that hyacinths do not tolerate. The bulbs should planted 15 cm deep and 12 to 15 cm apart. Cover the hyacinth sites with leaves, twigs or peat before the winter. After removing the mulch in spring the soil needs to be loosened, weeded, fertilized and watered in case of drought.

Each package contains 3 Delft Blue common hyacinth bulbs sized 17 to 18 cm. The basic plant data and the growing instructions were printed on the packaging label.
