The 'Skaner' dill is an annual plant with a short vegetation period. The variety offered here in our store is exceptionally productive and recommended for cultivation in greenhouses and in the field. It yields medium late. The plants grow 25 to 40 cm before shooting flowering stalks. They have an erect appearance. The rich feathery-lanceolate leaves consist of five to six sections. The cultivar does not produce flowering stalks prematurely. The leaves and stems maintain their vivid green colour for a long time and are covered with a thin layer of waxy coating. The 'Skaner' dill contains plenty of essential oils and is therefore exceptionally aromatic.
The 'Skaner' dill is an indispensable herb plant. It constitutes an excellent addition to soups, sauces and cabbage dishes. You cannot think of serving young potatoes without it. Dill marvellously enriches the taste of spreads, cottage cheese and fillings. The aromatic dill leaves perfectly fit into salads, too. This variety is recommended to be eaten fresh, but can also be dried and frozen. The mature plants with flowers are used in pickling cucumbers.
Dill seeds can be sown in batches all season long from spring to autumn. The harvesting time depends on the date of sow and takes place from May to October. Keep the rows 15 x 30 cm apart. Dill prefers fertile, humous, medium compact soils. A sunny site leads to a higher essential oil content and richer taste.
One package contains 5 grams of seeds. The growing tips and the sow-by date were printed at the back of the package.
