Bean, a plant belonging to Fabacecae family, originates from North and South America. It has spread all over the World as crop plant. Only two cultivars of the wide array of species and varieties available on the European market have significant value: common or green bean and runner bean.

We encourage you to purchase seeds of the dwarf yelllow French bean "Galopka". This eary variety forms a bushy habit. Long (12 to 14 cm), pale yellow pods are harvested when the seeds are not larger than wheat grains. A pod that is ready to be harvested should be smooth in cross section when broken in half. "Galopka" bean pods are slightly flattened and stringless. They are very tasty, juicy and are intended for direct consumption. Yellow pods cooked in salted water prove to be a great side dish or main course. They will dazzle as an addition to salads and casseroles with their tender, slightly sweet taste. Bean pods can be successfully frozen and become part of soups and vegetable mixes. Dwarf French bean "Galopka" is seasonal vegetable rich in vitamins and minerals - such as kalium and phosphorus - that is definitely worth including in your diet.

Bean is an annual thermophilic plant that also prefers wind sheltered sites. The soil in which it grows needs to be permeable, fertile and with neutral reaction. This species has moderate requirements in regard to watering. Bean seeds are sown from May 15th until July 15th because of the high temperatures (20 to 25 °C) needed for proper development of the plants. Bean should be cultivated in rows 30 – 40 cm apart, in 10 cm spacings.

Unbranched dwarf common bean stems lignify in lower parts and grow 50 to 65 cm tall. True leaves are trifolliate and take on different colours, from bright to dark green, depending on the variety. The root system develops a dense, wide net of roots, what results in bean plants not tolerating drought and transplanting. Bacteria of the Rhizobium phesoli species, that often form symbiosis with Fabacecae plants, live on the roots, creating small warts. The bacteria can assimilate nitrogen from the athmosphere that the plants use. Flowers take take on shape typical for the Fabacecae family and cannot be mistaken with other blooms. Their colour depends, like in case of the leaves, on the given variety. We will definitely see white, pink, purple and red bean blooms. A pod is bean’s fruit.

1 g contains 4 to 6 seeds. One package contains 25 g of dwarf bean „Galopka” seeds, detailed growing instructions and the sow–by date.

The quality control process

All our seeds must pass a four-stage quality control process.

Stage one begins with a careful selection of the suppliers. Than we proceed with controlling their crops, foreign producers are not excluded from the quality control process. Plants are checked at every stage of their development: when they start to grow, during blooming and when they start bearing fruit (seeds). At this stage the most important thing is to ensure proper spacing of the plants. Thanks to that obtaining the desired morphological characteristics of each particular species or variety, such as colour, height and shape, can be ensured.

Stage two consists of a detailed verification tests in laboratory conditions. With the use of the highest quality equipment by the highly qualified staff, our suppliers perform more than 30 000 quality checks annually. The seeds that do not meet our requirements are subject to technological refining processes, including drying, cleaning, upgrading and testing again.

Stage three starts with sowing seeds in selected control plots. That way we obtain valuable, exact information concerning their germination that must be maintained at an appropriate level. Simultaneously, the varietal identity of each species is checked at this stage.

Stage four takes place in our warehouses and consists of eliminating seeds that have been stored for too long on our shelves and replacing them with new batches. Each package is stamped with a unique batch number and also with the sow-by-date.

All four stages combined allow us to state with confidence that the seeds we deliver comply with the highest standards and have completed all required control stages with flying colours.
