Ornamental sunflower "Baver" (Helianthus annuus) is dwarf variety growing 30 - 40 cm tall. From June to August, charming, large (12 - 15 cm in diameter), sunny yellow blooms with contrasting dark centres appear on the tops of stiff, branched, coarsely haired stems. Small size and low requirements make this variety perfectly fitted for growing in containers on a balcony or bright windowsill as an original summer decoration. This is a perfect solution for people leaving in blocks of flats and for those who do not dispose of large gardens. Sunflower blooms may be used in herbal medicine. Dried petals are said to reduce fever, mildening cold and flu symptoms. Infusions made of dried sunflowers are also recommended in indigestion.
Seeds of the "Baver" ornamental sunflower are sown from April to May, two in one spot, in 30 cm spacings. You should cover them with a 2-cm-thick layer of soil. You should cultivate sunflowers on sunny and warm sites in fertile, moderately moist soil. Sunflower "Baver" blooms from July to September. You may cut off the wiltering inflorescences or leave them on the stems for the birds to forage on.
Package contains 2 g of "Baver" ornamental sunflower seeds, as well as the sow-by date and a growing guide.
