Marine Heliotrope is an annual plant; it grows 20 to 50 centimetres in height with little, yet highly aromatic flowers that form beautiful umbels. This variety flowers from June all the way up to late October. Marine Heliotrope produces a plethora of dark blue blotches, which contribute to its attractiveness as a plant suitable for flower beds, decorative pots, ridges, as well as for balconies and terraces.
Growing: sow the seeds in planter boxes from February to March. Do not cover the seeds - lightly press them into soil with a small board. The seeds germinate in 14 to 20 days at 18°C. Prick the seedlings out into pots (9 to 10 centimetres in diameter). Initially, the plants require to be kept at 12-15°C, which needs to be lowered later on to 8-10°C. Plant out into a permanent position from May to June. This variety requires permeable soils that are rich in nutrients.
