The 'Wega F1' onion is a medium early hybrid variety. It intended for direct processing and consumption after the harvest and for long term storing. It brings high yield of round bulbs with medium thick root necks that are slightly conical at the base. The yellow-brownish dry skin does not cover the flesh too tightly. The greens of the 'Wega F1' onion is dense, erect and covered with thin layer of waxy coating. This variety stands out with exceptional yield structure that consists of a large amount of marketable bulbs. It only seldom bolts. Its flesh is white-green and moderately savoury.

Onion seeds should be sown directly onto the field early in spring, preferably at the end of March and at the beginning of April. Sow in rows 30-45 cm apart. Thin out the seedlings after the emergence, as they should be at least 3 to 5 cm apart in order to develop well.

Onion is a popular vegetable that is commonly cultivated in vegetable gardens and on allotments.  It prefers sunny and warm sites. Sowing into fertile soil that is rich in humus brings the best results. The soil reaction should be between 5.6 and 6.5 pH. Please remember that onion is sensitive to water shortages. The frequent watering is of particular importance during the emergence and bulb development stage.
