Oriental poppy "Beauty of Liwer" (Papaver orientale) delights with the extremely ornamental and large flowers that grow up to 15 cm wide. These plants grow up to 100 cm tall during the flowering period. Frizzled, tender petals take on a deep red colour that contrasts with the black centres. This perennial plant blooms already at the end of spring. Flowers of the oriental poppy "Beauty of Liwer" look great, but are rather impermanent. Therefore we recommend to plant them for an extended period of time in larger groupings in order to enjoy them in garden. You may also cut them and put into vases. Putting the cut stems into hot water should significantly extend their durability.

Oriental poppy seeds should be sown directly or to pots. This is one of the very few poppy varieties that tolerates transplanting well. A sunny border would be perfect for this poppy. The soil needs to be compact, well drained, fertile and moderately moist. This allows the plants to develop correctly and winter well.
