Oriental poppy Picotee (Papaver orientale) that produces red petals with white bases is a picturesque perennial plant ideal for naturalistic gardens, rustic borders or large groupings planted directly on lawns. Slender poppies with long, thin, yet stiff, up to 70 cm tall stalks and large, semi–double flowers and feathery leaves retain their ornamental value from end of May / beginning of June until July. They only need light soil and plenty of sunlight to bloom exuberantly.

Oriental poppy rhizomes should be planted in spring. The soil prepared for these plants needs to be loosened, permeable and rich in humus. These perennials do not like heavy, waterlogged, acidic soils, but they would grow and bloom well for many years on other sites. It is worth to combine them with the differently coloured varieties of this species, as well as other summer annual and perennial plants that would stay on borders long after the poppies have wilted, such as cornflowers, cosmoses, sunflowers, tall asters or phloxes.

The package contains 1 piece of a Picotee oriental poppy rhizome. There are growing instructions printed on each package.
