The 'Suntastic F1' ornamental sunflower (Helianthus annuus nanus) is an early flowering, dwarf variety intended predominantly for cultivation on flower beds. Even though the plant is tiny (only 20 to 30 cm tall), its flowers that take on a classic shape surprise with their size. The yellow tear shaped petals surround the large, round, black centre of the inflorescence. The large flower head turns towards the sun on a thick, strong, densely leaved stem. The 'Suntastic F1' ornamental sunflower retains an erect habit during the entire flowering period that spreads from July to October. This exceptionally charming variety will add a rustic, idyllic touch to flower beds and borders. It will attract the useful pollinating insects as a melliferous plant. The dwarf, reliably blooming mini sunflowers can be grown in rows alongside fences and houses on the south facing wall. These plants look tremendous in arrangements with marigolds, flossflowers, dwarf asters, cosmoses, scarlet sage and the ever blooming begonia. The variety offered here is intended for cultivation in containers. It thrives in boxes and planters, hence can adorn a balcony or terrace for a long time. It also works perfectly as cut flower for smaller bouquets.

Seeds of the 'Suntastic F1' ornamental sunflower should be sown directly in spring. This plant grows vigorously and quickly starts to bloom without the need to be grown from seedlings. It is easy to grow and rather undemanding. It only requires the unrestrained access to sunlight and a soil that is rich in humus. It likes light, sufficiently moist soils. Standard flower soil, preferably placed over a drainage layer, will satisfy the plants in pot cultivation.
