The pink chrysanthemum-flowered aster "Beryl" (Callistephus chinensis) produces very large, double flowers that take on intense, dark pink colour. This rather tall variety grows approximately 90 cm tall, taking on a compact, tuft-like habit. It looks dense thanks to the myriads of tiny, dark green leaves. Long blooming, easy in cultivation chrysanthemum-flowered aster will become one of the most charming decorations of the summer border. Thanks to the large flower heads, filled with narrow, bent petals, it forms an attractive background for flowering plants with ear-shaped inflorescences and lower growing tufts of dwarf snapdragons, cockscombs, scarlet sage, flossflowers, as well as dwarf marigold and zinnias. "Beryl" aster is also perfectly fitted for composing fresh bouquets due to the magnitude of its blooms, slender stalks and longevity after cutting.
Seeds are sown at home, to a hotbed or a seed bed in early spring. Cultivation of the chrysanthemum-flowered asters from direct sow to the ground is also possible in the second half of May. These plants grow exuberantly on every sunny site with moderately moist, humous soil. They will bloom continuously and abundantly from July to the October frosts.
