This broad-leaved delosperma, also known as ice plant, is a small perennial with its origins in Africa. This succulent plant develops broad tufts that consist of creeping stems and fleshy, tubular leaves. Late in spring these unusual greens are covered with small, pink flowers and start to resemble a beautiful flowery carpet. This species will adorn your garden with its charming blooms until autumn. What is even more interesting, is that they are light-sensitive and open their calyxes only on sunny days.
Delosperma is easy to cultivate and may be grown from seeds. Just like other succulents it likes warm and sunny sites. This species has low requirements regarding soil and humidity. Ice plants do not stand excess water in the ground, so a permeable, light soil mixed with gravel or sand would suit them best. This species handles frosts well. Just cover it well before the winter and it will survive winter colds. Delosperma thrives on dry and sunny borders, but may also be grown in rock gardens, on embankments, walls and even pots and balcony boxes.
Each package contains 0.02 g of pink, broad-leaved delosperma seeds. Growing instructions and the sow-by date are included in the package information.
