The raspberry tomato "Rodeo" (Lycopersicon esculentum) is a medium early variety that is intended for amateur cultivation. It may be grown in the field and under low-laid covers. This determinate variety does not require topping nor staking. Fruit of this raspberry-type tomato grow large and may weigh even 500 - 650 g. The heart-shaped berries do not develop greenback and take on a wonderful pink-red colour. Their surface may be delicately rippled. Rather hard and firm fruit taste great and are very juicy. Thanks to its gustatory value the "Rodeo" tomato should be consumed directly or processed to juices.

Tomato belongs to thermophilic plants, therefore we recommend to grow it from seedlings. Sow tomato seeds under heated covers early in spring. Transfer seedlings out onto the field no earlier than in the second half of May, so young plants will not be threatened by spring frosts anymore. Plant the "Rodeo" raspberry tomato in 80 - 100 x 50 - 60 cm spacings. Tomatoes grow best in humous, moist, yet permeable and quickly drying soil. Remember to fertilise it properly in order to achieve rich harvest.
